I would think digging for the "art" books at good prices would be a good idea.  
Weston, Adams (of course) and Minor White come to mind.  Actually, Minor 
White's "Zone VI Workshop" is a good companion to Ansel's books.  Technical 
details are outdated, of course, but still a really good book.
