My wife went on a tour several years ago to Alexandria, Cairo, and up the
Nile to Aswan. It was one of those mother daughter bonding trips, so I
didn't go along. However, from her description of the trip and the pictures
she brought back (she uses a Rollei 35), you and your wife will have an
excellent time.
As far as the travel kit. I'm more of a minimalist. Of what I have, I would
probably take the 4T, 1n, 24 2.8, 50 1.4, and 100 2.8.
Congratulations on the 30 years and enjoy the trip.

Total trip duration approximately three weeks. Part of a Holy Lands tour
group hosted by the Sr. Pastor at my church (he's lead probably 15 tours
over the past 25 years).
Consider the slate blank. Body,lens,film,'pod',case, it's all open for
discussion at this point. No replies/suggestions discounted without
opportunity for rebuttal.
For what the trip is costing us (it's my wife and my thirtieth anniversary
gift to each other), I believe I can consider acquiring anything suggested
(that merits consideration that is) that I don't currently have.
