Maybe others have had better experiences with them, but the one I bought seemed really flimsy. It was the plastic parts that cracked on me. The legs seemed really flimsy and flexible, too, though. With a Winder 2 and my 35-80mm my OM-4T was heavy enough to sway like crazy with the legs fully extended. Without extending the legs I shot a couple of things from my trunk lid and it made a pretty good minipod. I have a Gitzo microphone fishpole that makes a pretty decent monopod and I've been keeping that in the trunk and then taking along the big Bogen if I know in advance I'll need it, but I still haven't found a durable travel tripod.

The Velbon was "suppose" to be the answer to the question of light travel tripods..

Arrg..
