I think even copper has a lower resistivity than gold, the issue really
is the effect of oxidation, no matter how good the resistivity of the
underlying metal a coating of oxide (usually an insulator) will make
that irrelevant.  Gold is not as subject to oxidation as copper, nickel,
iron, etc.
