Sent this message a couple of days ago, but haven't seen it come through
to the list. Sorry if you've seen it twice!

Well, I should have done it ages ago, but this has finally encouraged me
to get around to sending off my Winter Exchange submission to Bob, for
him to include on the web page.
The sharing of photos is a great thing indeed, and I always enjoy seeing
what everyone else has done with their OM and Olympus gear. I didn't
submit a TOPE 12 entry because a roll of film went astray and I was way
outside the submission deadline. Wonder if the TOPE police might accept
an extremely, extremely late submission? Other than that, I'll
endeavour to keep submitting the TOPE entries and Exchange shots and
hope as many other people as possible will too!

Hi folk,
Seems to me that these exchanges, TOPE, and all Updates to the Unofficial
Olympus Web Photo Gallery have two or more functions.
Encourage us to use our OMs and Zuikos more, derive inspiration from the
work of other people, enjoy looking at the work of other people who use
equipment we have in common (sharing, if you like, and this is surely one of
the reasons this group exists at all - sharing common interests), and in the
case of the exchanges - actually have the work of another in your hands to
see what the real thing looks like as compared with a computer-based
replica of it. Or in comparison with your own work.
Granted, some people might have difficulty getting their work scanned etc,
but surely and equally there are plenty who could do that little service for
them.
And a lot of the enjoyment / purpose is in actually participating.
By now too, many of us have had e-mail exchanges with others of this group,
and we have formed friendships and relationships to the extent one can on
this electronic basis. I personally enjoy seeing in particular what my closer
friends can and do produce with their OMs and their skills and vision. Putting
your image up on the screen is part of that. For me it is a bit of a let-down to
visit a site where someones' image could be, to find it is just not there.
Brian
