The spelling and word usage police strike again.
Mat: a border going around a picture between picture and frame or
serving as the frame.
Matt: short for Matthew, a nickname.
Matte: lacking or deprived of luster or gloss, having a smooth,
even surface free from shine or highlights.
You may now carry on.
Walt (running for cover)
