It's a lovely lens. I bought it and only shortly after I stumbled over *the 2/90. The 85 has a very delicate bokeh, I feel it is a close friend, very forgiving, if you know what I mean. The 90 is something special, with - as I find - more rectricted -or disciplined - application. I had the 2.8/100 only for a very short time, it came with a body and four more fine lenses, which I had to resell to finance (I know, terrible lack of zuikoholism) the body and the 24 that I wanted from the bunch.
With your 40, I'd say go for the 85 and see how you like it :)
