Nope, the system is designed to use 1.5 volt silver oxide batteries. Not sure what would happen if you put the 3 volt battery in there, but I wouldnt even try it.

If you cant get the sr44s there are other 1.5 volt silver batteries that can be used. I dont recall all of the ones that are interchangeable, I'm sure someone will give you a list.
