I don't know about Lecia lenses but there is no doubt that good old Olly Lenses are certainly very sharp. See this image http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/dynoGallDetail.asp?photoID=46400 Taken with a standard 50 f1.8 on Kodak 400tcn print film. For me I would rather have sharpness over contrast, at least for what I do with my images. I have the image scanned, so being able to capture a broad tonal range and get good detail in both shadow and the brighter parts of an image is preffered. I can then bump up the contrast in an image edditting program. It certainly is a lot harder to get sharpness out of an image if it is not there in the first place.
