I suppose you have to understand that people get really grumpy at
having their world torn apart by loud noise ... seemingly for no
reason.

I don't know of any "official" name for lighting the fuel dump plume,
but I know that we were not allowed to dump while in burner in the
Tornado - perhaps because we might get rid of more fuel than
intended! I did not like to dump anyway for environmental reasons...

I really wish that I had had my OMs when I was last at an F111 show -
in 1983 I think - like Gary. But, it is fun now to have the kit to
use at decent shows. Might take them along to a steam engine show at
Old Warden soon.

At all the RAAF airshows, the things that always impressed me most
were the three F111's flying over "dumping fuel" into their
"afterburners" (sorry, there's probably some aeronautical term
for them sitting on a flame far longer than the plane itself),
and the massive B52 lowflying over twice and then back to Darwin.

I did have a Pentax at the '88 Bicentennial Airshow, but all of
my piccies are rather horrendous (I was even less of a photographer
than). Ahh, to be at that show with what I know now [sigh]
