Hi guys,
This is a totally off-topic message, but perhaps someone can enlighten me
somewhat here.
The question: have you ever heard of "The World Academy of Medicine"?
I'm asking this as their "president" (who lives in my neighbourhood, and is
the father of one of Karol's friends) is asking me to do a lot of work for
them. The thing is, if you look at http://www.worldacademyofmedicine.org ,
his name is listed as president. Now, supposedly he has lots of titles,
including the one of medical doctor; yet the neighbourhood both he and I
live in, is at best so-so, and certainly not one in which one would expect a
doctor to live.
The above domain has been registered by himself (organisation name = World
Academy of Medicine, the listed address = his home address). Using Google I
can't really find anything about them, and I could not find any listing
whatsoever at the Dutch chamber of commerce. The copyright listed on the
page is mentioned as 1991-2002, weird that nothing can be found on the
Internet then...;)
In other words: everything sounds fishy, vapour-ware like, or at best a new
association in its start-up phase. However, if you look at the page, it
_appears_ to be a big organisation, having lots of establishments all around
the world....
Now, I do not want to confront this guy too directly (yet) with some serious
doubts about the organisation size etc., and want to do some research before
hand. This is where perhaps you can help out a bit, by telling me
(off-list), if the name rings any bells, and what the way would be to check
in your country (especially in the USA and Canada) if this organisation is
registered, etc.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the OT post, but I need some international
help here...
