Back to my original mail! When Baird invented the television, he did not
include the electronic line scanner which Farnsworth did indeed invent.
Baird used mechanical scanning at the camera and receiver. The electronic
line scanner is therefore not essential, but a very nice to have refinement,
whose inventor had no idea of its application potential (like so many
others).
The 'Invention' part is seeing how to take a small extra step in integrating
the work of others to produce something new which the same others had not
seen.
Baird invented television. He did not invent any of the components.
