Ed,

You might want to check out the information at:

http://people.smu.edu/rmonagha/mf/black.html

The Krylon ultra flat black paint is a fairly good match for the black
on most OM gear. It is a duller black, but a little paste wax and
buffing can get it pretty close. I've been disappointed in the adhesion
and wear resistance of this paint, however. I have a junk baseplate to
experiment on. I thought that I would try sanding off all of the
original finish, and start fresh, rather than attempting to touch up the
bad spots.

Others have suggested black nail polish (really an acetone-based
paint). I have also tried the Testor "paint pens", but again the wear
resistance was not good.

I have concluded that the wear on my black OM-1 gives it "character",
and have decided to leave well enough alone.

HTH,

Bill Stanke
