Hej Lars og Mats,

I heard an interesting story from an independent camera technician last
week. I mentioned the local Tamron importer's small repair facility, and he
then said that Olympus now send their repair work to a central European
facility in Portugal. Perhaps they still do out-of-warranty work in
Copenhagen? It is a while since I used them (2-3 years ago) for iS-3000
warranty work, and as far as I know that was done in Copenhagen. Any
comments, Lars?

Hej Mats,

Changing the light seals is not difficult in my experience. I have done
four so far. The pre-cut material like that from John H. is the easiest,
but you could also make your own. Micro-tools (www.micro-tools.de)
sells the necessary materials. Look in the restoration supplies section.

As for servicing the OM-1 and OM-2, you might consider crossing the
bridge to Copenhagen. Olympus in Denmark still does CLA on these "old"
cameras (via dealers). They did a good job on my OM-2n a few months
ago. The price may be higher than in the US, but you will avoid shipping
your camera very far away and all those import/export problems.
AFAIK they also will do a battery conversion on the OM1.

Greetings/hilsener
Lars
