A short length of 1/4" dowel sharpened in a pencil sharpener works
great. The tip can be crushed to make a brush like tip or cut off a bit
to make a chisel. Of course it is renewable by sticking it back in the
sharpener. A 3 foot length of dowel lasts forever and costs pennies.
