Caught your discussion concerning Photoshop and just wanted to inform you
good people of a copy that I have for trade. We ran a photo intro class at
my sons school last year and purchased the academic version of Photoshop 5.5
for use in the class. This year we are not running the class (private
Christian school - and not enough senior high students) and I purchased
(privately) Photoshop 6.0 for my own use/education. I am very uneducated as
to Photoshops potential - preferring an actual darkroom - but have not found
anything that I can not do with Photoshop 5.5 (there is no difference in the
Academic version, you just need to prove you are a school for the original
purchaser - I registered it as an individual for home use and so can you).
You can register this copy and then purchase if need be any upgrades you
desire. I do not want to sell this program as I believe that would be
unethical and akin to stealing from Adobe, but would be interested in
trading. Let me know if anyone of you are interested.

I'll second John on this one. He pointed me in the same direction maybe
a year ago and I've been very happy with it. I still have Photoshop LE
(came with the Acer Scanwit) installed but I don't think I've used it
since I got Picture Window. To me the fundamental difference is one of
approach and presentation. I think PhotoShop is designed for graphics
artists. Picture Window is designed for photographers and its usage is
more intuitive to me. I haven't found anything that it can't do but I
have to admit that I'm only scratching the surface. If PhotoShop has
more capability (and I don't know that it does) then I'd probably never
use it since it will take me years to figure out everything that Picture
Window is capable of. It has great documentation but I just haven't had
the time to read it all. I think it's also a lot faster than PhotoShop.
One of the things that I absolutely love (and that I didn't know was
there for quite awhile) is the ability to lay out an 8-1/2 x 11 page as
a template such that it fits two 5 x 7's or eight wallet size photos or
whatever I can fit together on the page. Then I just drop the images
into the template and print.
