Ah Yes.... You do get some real dumps there. That's our snow that your
mountains steal before it can get to us. It helps to be first in line. By
the time the snow gets here it's usually quite dry and powdery. Lovely stuff
to ski in though. Some of the mountains South of us hit -69 F last night. It
must have followed one of the Canadian tourists down. My place in the
mountains is just West of Yellowstone Park and it will sometimes get down
to -60 but it never stays there very long. I don't mind playing outside
at -20 F but colder than that is just too dangerous. Any little problem is
greatly magnified when it's that cold. There have been some earlier posts
about gloves for cold-weather photography. I like to use fingerless gloves
with the cameras and just keep my fingers in my parka pockets when I can.

Stevens Pass, Washington.

Admittedly, last week was unusual, however there was an
average of 12 to 15 inches of snow per day for the week.
The day I skied was sunny in the morning. I got some good
pictures then. In the afternoon, it clouded up and started
snowing again. I'll see how it is this coming weekend.

It makes me want to get out in it and take pictures. I took
a new (to me) OM1n and 35 2.8 skiing with me last Saturday.
My local ski area had received about 100 inches (250 cm) of
snow in the previous week. The skiing was excellent and I
got some great pictures with the camera.

There's something about a snowstorm that just makes a person
itch to get in the darkroom.

Might do some courthouse pics tonight, but otherwise I'm
staying
warm. No need to shovel the driveway--that's why we drive
4WD
vehicles. :)
