What are peoples experiences with x-rays at airports?
I took along my OM1 on a trip to LA a few weeks ago,
and then both my OM1 and OM4 on a trip to Boston, the
film in the OM1 had been through various x-ray
equipment about 4-5 times in total on both trips, and
the OM4 about 2-3 times. The OM1 was loaded with Reala
100ASA and the OM4 with T-Max 100ASA, after getting
both films back I can only guess that the poor quality
of the shots is due to x-ray exposure, the colour
shots are grey and poor and the b&w are definitely
effected, there's hardly a shot with any black in at
all, just mucky grey etc.
I really don't want to take any film in cameras or out
of them through x-rays anymore if they are just
getting ruined, anyone have any ideas? Could I use an
x-ray proof bag and wrap the body in it?
I try and carry spare film in my pocket as I walk
through the metal detector, so avoiding the x-rays,
I'm going back to England and then back to the US
again next week and wanted to take my camera gear etc
but don't want all my shots ruined by repeated x-rays.
