Don't you sometimes wonder about the world.....
First, a bit of background for non-UK peoples.
Jessops are by far and away the largest camera retailer in UK, with one or
more shops in just about every major town (and a number of smaller ones).
They sell second hand gear and have a web site that just gives the item, a
number between 1 and 5 for the condition, and the particular shop that has
it in stock. The idea is that you phone up the shop to get details and they
will ship it for free to your local branch with no obligation to buy.
Right, get the picture. I see an OM2n, condition 3 so phoned up the shop
Me "Hi, you've got an Olympus OM2n on your web site,
can you give me some details"
Shop assistant "Sure, hold on while I get it...."
(wait a short while, then)
Me "What's the condition like?"
Shop assistant "Quite good, no marks on the lens"
Me "Oh I thought it was just the body. What lens is
does it have?"
Shop assistant "50mm, err 1:1.8 if that means anything to you."
Me (is he taking the ***** ?)
One or two other questions about the condition, then
Me "Is it black or Chrome?"
Shop assistant "Black.... well, yeah black but the top and bottom
bits are silver"
Me (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) "OK, can you just send it......."
No wonder Point-and-shoot wonderbricks are so popular when the supposed
experts don't even know what they're talking about!
