Tom,
It is easy to overheat the top of the cell and damage the plastic
seals, so use a heat sink as suggested by using a pair of vice grips etc. If
you do overheat them they leak electrolyte slowly and you get very short life
from the cells. Symptom: crystals around top of cell after relatively few
cycles
