Without the familiarity of the camera and the memory card, I'm sure I missed
a lot. It was powered on with fresh batteries and the lcd screen was working
nicely. I assumed that autofocus would be engaged when the flip switch on the
left points to AF and the shutter release is pressed slightly. Nothing
happened with the shutter release. I then figured that it was disabled
because the card was missing.

I don't think the aperture was shut to f/11 because the viewfinder wasn't
THAT dim. But it's all new to me, so I can only give my gut feeling. The
viewfinder was usable, but smaller than I expected, and with the eclipsing
problem I was disappointed. I'll surely look again in a shop with
knowledgeable people if I get the chance. All things considered, it may have
been mistreated, OR the problem with this camera may have been standing
behind it. ;-)

Thanks to your postings, I KNOW the camera is very capable in the right
hands. So, I haven't made any final judgement, just observations. Thanks for
responding!
