Hmmm, I wonder if you could also go one further and do an amazon.com
style, "if you liked this lens then you'll probably also like these
lenses" :-).

Seriously though, I think it is a good idea. photo.net does have a bit
of this but is somewhat limited in their lens reviews (not too
surprising since they cover any system's lenses). Perhaps by limiting to
a single system, we could get a more complete coverage. Philip shoots
Canon gear if memory serves so it's not too surprising to see there's
good Canon coverage.

I see 2 possibilities here:

1. Get a hold of the photo.net folks and offer to write some reviews
about some Olympus gear (they've got an Olympus section but all that's
there right now is a review of the mju-II/Stylus Epic). Then we could
take advantage of photo.net's comment features for other people to post
comments. However, there's no system there for actually rating the lens.
You can post a comment that states your opinion but there's no
functionality for posting comments and saying what you'd rate the lens
(so that there could then be shown an average rating for the lens). I
believe there are some other sites as well that rate equipment that
would be other possibilities.

2. Set up a new website purely devoted to Olympus reviews. This would
allow for a specific set of features to be offered that might not be
offered elsewhere. And, the focus is guaranteed to be Olympus. I don't
know if such a site exists to date.

Now then, this could be a move I may come to regret. My hosting does
offer me the capability to setup this kind of site (full cgi and
database plus 100mb of storage). I've still got about 40-50mb left of
space on my account. While I wouldn't be able to offer any reviews (I
currently own no Olympus equipment), I could probably setup a site that
would allow others to post reviews (I can code Perl cgi scripts and I
know SQL well enough to setup the database). I guess what I'm saying is
that if this is something that the list members would like to see, I
could set the backend up if others were to provide content (in the form
of going to the site and filling in reviews, plus providing some suggestions).
