Dirk,
I have a similar problem at my daughter's basketball games. They seem
really brightly lit, but the camera knows better than I do. I have to use
800 or even 1600 with my 85/2 or 50/1.2 wide open and still get 1/60 and
1/125 shutter speeds.
I think some of it is the type of light.
