Ah, the Cromenco! Used in a research facility with a custom driver to
control a three-axis engraver that made templates used to make tactile
maps for the use of blind people. The system became a template for
copies made in several parts of the world. Virtually all of the NY
subway system  has been laid out in tactile maps.

'fCourse the system has been updated quite a bit since!
