Well I couldn't resist checking my OM-1md bought new in '76. Serial No is
636*** so the one in the photo is obviously much later. There was a period
after the MD badge was added when Olympus dropped the badge (and received
all kinds of queries about the md capability even though the bottom plate
was correct) but later with the OM2 resurrected it to indicate to the
buying public that the camera was md capable. would suggest that you have
here one of the later OM-1s without the md badge that has had a decal added
by "someone". As far as I know Olympus never added the md badge even to the
OM-1s that had the bottom plate replaced to access the gears.
