I may have mentioned it before, but I have some holiday to use up at work
before the end of February and have been pondering a trip somewhere for a
while.
Well, the wheels are well and truly in motion. I'm departing from Heathrow
to Los Angeles via British Airways on Sunday next, 4th February, for a 2
week trip. The air fare now seems to be as cheap as it has been for a while,
for the moment anyway.
If anyone can, through the list, give me any advice, internet links, where
to go (and where not to go), I would greatly appreciate it. I have never
been to the states before.
I intend to hire a car and go where the fancy takes me. Places such as Vegas
(somewhere I have always fancied going to), San Francisco, Hoover Dam,
Yosimite National Park, Death Valley, San Diego, Mexico, Grand Canyon, Bodie
etc etc. spring to mind, but I have really to get to grips with the
geography and what is practical to try and achieve without driving 1000f
the time.
The other thought is regarding clothing - I should pack etc, although I
suppose this will depend on my eventual itinerary.
Definite OM content - I shall certainly be taking the OM1 and OM4 plus
assorted Zuikos. More on this later. A tripod is essential, IMHO, although I
have only have a Benbo 1 at present - the thought of carrying this, bren
gun like, half way across the world is a bit daunting. It might alarm
people at the airport as well:-)
As usual I am about 6 digests behind, but intend to catch up over the
weekend.
