<<Is there something wrong with the Gitzo ballhead?>>
Don't panic! There is nothing inherently *wrong* with it; the Arca Swiss is just
better, esp. for the application originally discussed, a rock-solid pod & head
for a 35mm with long tele (without any mention of price sensitivity). I believe
you can convert the Gitzo head (e.g. 1376) to the Arca Swiss QR system with an
RRS B2-Pro as it comes with a standard 3/8" socket. I don't know if you can
remove the platform and retain the stud like you can with the Linhof Profi II
(a better choice if your looking to save $, BTW). I do know you start spending
major bucks to try to get either head to do AS QR, and you still don't have a
B1. Nonetheless, I'd certainly advocate AS QR over anything from Gitzo or
Bogen/Manfrotto. And I still love the B1 with RRS!
