Hi all,

Concerning the difference between T and B:

Long ago in the mists of time photographers used flash powder which was
ignited with a mighty flash and smoke: really wonderful to behold. Then
came the era of the flash bulb: now the problem was how to synchronise the
camera shutter with either powder (in the very early days) or bulbs (later
on).

Concerning powder: the cameras had such slow lenses and hopeless shutters
(a cover for the lens would suffice actually- take it off for the exposure
and then put it back when you think you've got it right) that it didn't
matter really. But by the time bulbs appeared the lenses were much faster
and so were the shutters. So a setting called BULB was introduced. You
opened the shutter, fired the bulb and then closed the shutter. This is
why this setting still remains as B. The T setting (for TIME) was intended
for those longgg exposures when you might get cramp in your finger or have
to rush off to the bog....
