Hello Olympians,

Doris Fang once sugested an XA like camera with 21mm lens. It seems an
other camera maker than Olympus has realized such a camera:

RICOH GR21

Introducing the world's first* compact camera with super-wide 21 mm
lens.

Koeln, Germany, September 20, 2000. Building on the success of the GRä
series design Ricoh Co.,
Ltd. continues to deliver a compact camera of unrivaled feature set
unseen before.

The new 21 mm GR21 compact camera from Ricoh lets you take photographs
boasting all the effects
characteristic of a super-wide lens, from perspective effects to
extreme depth of field. The GR21 lens corrects the lens distortion and
chromatic aberration that commonly plague wide-angle photography,
while realizing high contrast and high resolution even at the corners
of the frame. The lens unit, consisting of nine multi-coated lenses in
six groups and including aspherical elements, prevents ghosts and
flares, providing clear, sharp images and outstanding color
reproduction.

Passive-type multi autofocus system.

The passive-type multi autofocus system is so accurate that it can
actually focus on objects located on the other side of a transparent
window. And thanks to wide multi-AF framing, your subject will be in
focus even when off-center within the frame.

Ultra-thin, compact body offers remarkable portability.

Portability and high performance-GRä series compact cameras are famous
for both. Portability is not
sacrificed with the addition of a 21 mm wide-angle lens: With the
dimensions of 117 x 63.5 x 26.5 mm and 204 g weight, the GR21 is
compact enough to carry everywhere, allowing you to make the most of
any photo opportunity. In addition a threaded type filter system is
available as an optional alternative whilst a unique, flower-shaped
lens hood that effectively shuts out unwanted light is included.

Aperture Priority AE and Program AE allow for creativity and
convenience.

Aperture Priority AE lets you choose the aperture setting, from F3.5
(fully open) to F22, in 12 steps.
For further creative options, the seven shutter blades facilitate
striking "out-of-focus" effects.
The Program AE mode is useful for snapshots.

Extra-clear bright-frame viewfinder.

Quality optical lenses and an extremely accurate prism create a bright
view. The viewfinder display is easy to read, and includes the focal
point of the highly accurate seven-zone passive-type
multi-autofocus system.

Close-up effects down to 30 cm enable dynamic compositions.

Effects such as pan-focus and linear distortion make for dramatic
close-ups (as close as 30 cm from
your subject).

Auto bracketing virtually ensures great shots under difficult lighting
conditions.

In auto bracketing mode, the camera shoots three frames of the same
composition at -0.5 EV, +/-0 EV
and +0.5 EV.

Manual ISO setting.

Interesting photographic effects can be achieved by setting the film
speed manually.
