Yes, the front element can be polished and recoated, since there are 
companies that do this, but you won't get the exact same coating as original. 
This is inexpensive, BTW. I got a quote of about 30-40$ per side, not 
including stripping off the old coating. I don't know how much difference 
this would make in the performance of the lens. If the glass is scratched, 
then you need a new element. Olympus may or may not have one.
