Dear Zuiks/Zuikettes:

My recent OT post created quite a response, both on- and off-list.
I was planning to thank everyone personally for the warm greetings
and kudos. Unfortunately, various family and business obligations
precluded me from doing so in a timely manner.

Oh well, better late than never, right? And so, I'd like to use
this forum to thank everyone who commented, posted a response, or
wrote to me in person (and you all know who you are!). I greatly
appreciate the very kind words, and I do promise to post more
often, and as much "on topic" as I am capable of :-).

As to the numerous invitations to launch yet another of my hugely
popular OM equipment sales on the OLY list, I'll try to organize
one very soon, maybe even before the forthcoming Bastille Day. In
the mean time, pls feel free to contact me off-list with specific
requests. Otherwise, if your vices include occasional forrays to
eB*y, pls do check out my outstanding (pun intended!) auctions.
My eB*y ID's are "gary.schloss" and "lvcamera".

I must warn you that: (a) although my eB*y auctions are limited
to photo equipment, they are not exclusively OM!), and (b) many
of my offerings are so tempting that some of you may contemplate
photographic bigamy, or even polygamy! (Blasphemy, I know...)

Also, pls remember that I still have plenty of new, factory fresh
PX625 (aka PX 13) mercury batteries, made by Varta, Germany, which
I continue to sell to OLY list members for only US$5.00 apiece. These
terrific cells are guaranteed to elicit an almost "orgasmic" reaction
from your OM-1/OM-1N's, as well as from your Olympus FTL's, Pen F/FT's,
and a variety of 35-series OLY rangefinders (35RC, 35RD, 35SP, etc.)

Ok, enough shameless self-promotion. :-) Let me quickly respond to
some of the comments which were made following my recent post.

Let me assure everyone that though now in Las Vegas, I have absolutely
no desire to grow Kentucky blue grass, distill Kentucky burbon, build
a Kentucky Derby-themed casino, or eat at the Kentucky Fried Chicken
restaurants. Ever! Otherwise, I'm sure Kentucky is a perfectly lovely
place, and I believe I even visited there -- once, arriving at the CVG
airport on my way to a business engagement in Cincinnati, OH. :-)

GMA is a great guy, and I consider him a dear friend. We met in person
several times, and, despite our very different politics and temperaments,
we genuinely liked each other and got along great. Furthermore, GMA knows
and loves OLY gear, and he's a very gifted photographer. I lament that
he is no longer on the list. Maybe he'll rejoin soon.

Same goes for other now former list members e.g. Denton Taylor, John
Gardner, and several others none of whom I had the pleasure of meeting in
person. Their participation in this forum enriched us all, and I will
miss their insightful comments.

Oh, come on! Tom's two beautiful daughters _are_ mesmerizing. However,
when it comes to OLY gear, Tom S. is an "OLY nouveau riche", while I am
definitely "OLY old money"... :-) :-) (Sorry, Tom!)

Hmmm, maybe this was a wrong prescription. Maybe what you really needed
was some California dreamin', Las Vegas gamblin', etc. ? I mean, we're
all goin' nuts, right? So why not do it in style? :-) :-)

>Speaking of SUVs--DON'T!

Relax, I don't own one -- so not a chance!

As I said above: OLY nouveau riche's ...

Ok, I'll be mum on the above (yeah, right!). Btw, isn't "Mac vs Windoz"
missing from the list? As to eB*y, it's become like pornography: everyone
wants to banish it, or make it more respectable, but visits the place in
disguise, and has literally closets full of this "filth". Some actually
put their closets in full display! :-) :-) Exhibitionists! Hedonists!!
(Tom S., I'm green with envy!!!)

Yeah, I know. But here in Vegas we can't afford to be too true to the
source. Or, how would one explain the swimming pools at The Sahara, a
black glass pyramid at The Luxor, Madame Tussaud's at The Venetian,
etc. ? I suggest that you stop being such a stickler for the truth, or
we'll build an Assie-themed resort, with Ayres Rock neatly squeezed in
right between the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge. Heck,
we'll even have a few plastic kangaroos and koala bears, and will hold
there the Year 2000 Gamblers' Olympics. Gold medal in buffet marathon,
anyone? :-) :-) (Hmmm, I guess people who have never been to Vegas,
won't get this one. Gary R. and Charlie L., I may need your help here.)

Finally, Olaf Greve wrote:

Thanks, I'll try to contribute ASAP. However, after reviewing the
current submissions, I'm convinced that my ugly mug will only spoil
what is otherwise a very nice display of our handsome and studly Zuiks.
Hey, shouldn't someone explore the viability of an OM escort service?

Cheers,

/Gary Schloss.
