I'm sure he didn't mean it the way it's being interpreted. Chalk it up to
"pigeon english" and is similar to how early owners manuals were written.
, and perhaps still are.
We tried to convince the Japanese (in the Olympus Service Dept., Woodbury)
in the early 80s that service manuals (allegedly in english already) HAD to
be re-written into english that Americans would fully understand. This was
met with unbelievably stubborn resistance (which was the way of doing daily
business). Service manuals stayed the way they were.
I think "unfortunately" was just a poor choice of words by someone who
didn't fully realize what he was saying.
