Surely the issue is the distance from the cassette chamber to the centre of
the picture area.  For example, this distance is much smaller in an XA than
in an OM, and I doubt there is a standard among SLRs.  It's irrelevant for
film, but for a device with a sensor in a fixed positon relative to the
film chamber it would be.
