I saw a "follow up report" on the American television "news program" 60
Minutes about the wholesale stealing by employees at Kennedy and O'Hair
Airports several years ago. They had aired the original expose the year
before. They showed baggage people systematically breaking open luggage,
pawing through it and taking what they wanted accumlating piles of stolen
articles. The conclusion was that nothing was done by the airlines in
response to the original expose. The reason no one wants to check luggage
is not to avoid waiting at the luggage carousel, but to avoid losing what
they value. I would never check by photo equipment.
