Ken, thanks for the detailed report.

Are you sure the EOS1 focusses faster than the F5 and F100? One would have
thought the latter, being newer, would be faster...

And I wonder how the new AF-S Nikon Silent Wave lenses may affect this
picture...the new 80-200 2.8 is supposed to be super-fast.

Few months ago i had a chance to shoot some sports with my 8008s, and
realized just how primitive it had become in terms of focussing speed. So I
traded it in on a N90s, which is a lot better. I use it from time to time
on stuff that moves a lot, and when I need real sophistictated flash.
Unfortunately I did this about 2 weeks before the F100 was announced! BTW,
I see a whole lot of folk are dumping their N90s systems, presumably for
the F100. Have you considered a pair <g>?

When I was fooling around the other day with the 35-70 2.8D, I happened to
put it in MF mode and was quite suprised to see, as you say, that Nikon has
considerably improved the 'feel' of their manual focus. It was still a bit
light, but almost a pleasure!

Today I decided to get out and take pix for a change, with the big gear
bag, and assigned myself a project to photograph the proliferation of
survelliance cameras springing up like weeds. Would you believe I went thru
4 rolls???

Regards,
Denton Taylor
