I'm not going to open the can of worms called: "various 50mm f/1.8 builds."
My suggestion: test the two and you decide. Given production variation, I'm
not going to make any definitive statements beyond those which apply to the
actual lenses I have tested. But I know this, I'm not parting with MY late
model "Made in Japan."
