:marc -- just checkem mine to be sure. You are correct that the Tamron
screws
:aren't evenly spaced. Still looks to me as tho the screw will cross the
reset
:button (JUST!). Epoxy in the screw hole would seem to be the answer.

Well, as I wrote, I tested this. I put some white correction fluid on the
side of the OM-4 mount at the position of the reset button, and mounted the
adapter. Although the screws are not evenly spaced, one of them still
travelled over the button; I could not only see it, I could also feel it.
Squeeeeeessshh, another nanometer plastic scratched off. So other
Tamron/OM-3/OM-4 owners please check. But I applied two component glue and
now it feels better. I must say it was an occasion adapter; new models are
possibly better but here they are rather expensive (Hfl 150-180 = US$
75-90).

I have done it!
I'm now the proud owner of 2+ kilo of glass. It still looks reasonable good
on the outside, and the condition of the glass and the aperture is perfect.
It is the Safari Green version, so now I'm ready for my Coyote hunt. So its
not the latest model, but I don't care for a quarter of the new price. It
still has IF and LD glass. Focusing is very fast and smooth - you don't have
to move your hand to focus it from 2.5 m to infinity. And as I said, it came
with the two converters. The 1.4x originally came with this lens and is
supposed to be specially made for it - the previous owner said it performed
very good; he was less content with the 2x. Where have we heard this before,
rather recently?
And there were also no less than 11 slide in filters (9 B+W filters, an
Tamron filter, and a home made softener for portrait photography - certainly
will try that one!). Besides there was a huge Tamron UV front filter, and of
course also the original shade. The only thing that's missing is the
original case (it not all that good, he said).

I have one question about his slide in filter system. Does anyone know if
it's part of the optical system - that is, is it recommended to always use a
filter (if only a neutral UV)? My guess is not.

Will I keep my 300/4.5 Zuiko? Probably. This 2.8 speed is not always needed,
and besides Zuiky weighs 1 kilo less. And does one part from his old friends
once a new friend is met? I don't think so. So I'll keep you informed about
lens performance comparisons etc.

Hans (soon needing a sherpa).
