I'm answering my own questions after receiving a few guidelines,
and suggestions from other Internetters...

Yes.

It is displaying the result of the last exposure. Reason I was confused
was that I thought it was metering first then telling me that I will
over/under expose the shot if I didn't change the aperture. Therefore
it's a post exposure metering rather than pre-exposure metering.

Incorrect, the slidebar is an electronic switch!! Thought the actual
panel itself is just a guide.

As to the different concepts of flash photography :-

TTL - completely auto as long as the aperture doesn't go above the 1/60
      mark (which seems to be the case for ISO 100 films).
Manual Auto - I can select 3 intensity ratings, which have a recommended
              F-stop and distance.

Thank you all for your explanations and being so patient with me. Maybe
I jumped the gun by purchasing such a sophisticated manual system
without knowing what I was going into.
