HP's consumer device folks don't want to support NT any more than they
absolutely have to. They actually got Adaptec to cut down the Easy-CD Pro
software they included with their CD writer (at least, with my 6020i) to
only work on 95 for exactly this reason; it wouldn't surprise me if they did
the same with their scanner.
