As others have mentioned on the list, I think that it probably more a
matter of volume and manufacturing design. I am guessing that Olympus sells
10 OM4Tis for every OM3Ti. Even if Oly does a volume run and then
warehouses them until sold, the manufacturing run on OM3Ti is going to be
much, much smaller than that for an OM4T. Lost economy of scale. In the
meantime, since the original basic design, everything else from cameras to
cars has been redesigned to be robotically assembled with fewer and simpler
to assemble parts. As a result a camera like the OM3Ti becomes much more
costly to assemble than the usual wonderbrick.
