My preferences are grid lines and a diagonal split image, with NO
microprism collar, closely followed by grid with no focusing aid, but with
a ring that matches the spot meter. I think that's what Gary just sold me,
but never having seen a Beattie, I'll have to wait for it to arrive.

I don't have a shift, but I have a 21/3.5 that mostly lives on the camera,
so I use the lines a lot to keep from taking pictures that look like they
were shot with a 21/3.5. :-)

And sorry, John. I'm the one who quoted Cambridge at you. They have
something like $56.95 in their magazine ads -- obviously a bait-and-switch
outfit.

I'm always willing to use anyone's magazine ad to try to get a better deal,
but I'm also always willing to hear how scummy the "other dealers" are. :-)
It is usually worth a few dollars for my effort, even if the place can't
actually meet the "scummy" dealer's price.
