I have experience this myself. In november 1994 I was in New Zealand (and for
you who have not been there I strongly recommend you to go there, it sure is a
paradise on Earth!). At Waimangu valley, near Rotoroa, I was shooting the
Inferno Crater. The Inferno Crater is a small lake that overflow every
fourteenth (?) day, this because of the heat of the water. If I don't remember
wrong, the "normal" water temperature is 80 degrees Celsius (176 F)!

Anyway, the lake was just crystal blue and it was surrounded by steep cliffs.
Well, this crystal blue color of the water was totally vanished at the print.
The print showed some greenish color, guess if I was more than disappointed!
After that I have only been using slides for more important shots.

This leads to the original question (asked by Brian E. Robinson) of what
film(s) one use:

I only use Fujichrome films (not faster than ISO 100) when shooting landscapes,
building and generally "serious" stuff. When I shoot for sending or giving away
I use print films of Fuji, Kodak and Agfa (most of the time ISO 100 and 200,
occasionally 400). Sometimes I use B&W films of Kodak and Ilford.
