John,

Interesting to hear that the problem can also occur on 4Ti and 2N.

Any more information on what the problem actually is ?

As far as it occurring on the 2N, I have never experienced this on my 2N
which has regularly operated in weather extremes such as Bell's Beach in
winter ( a popular surf beach in S.E Australia where the air temperature
falls below 0.C ) and Singapore during the "wet" season. In thousands of
exposures, I cannot recall the OM2N ever malfunctioning or incorrectly
exposing.

Do I have an unusually good OM2N ?

My OM2N would be over 15 years old now & it has never been serviced. I am
too scared that something might happen, and anyway it is still working
perfectly and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ! ( no disrespect to you as
I have no doubt you are a skilled technician).

By the way, Is there a recommended service interval for the OM1 & OM2 ? Is
their some minor maintenance I should do to ?

As far as the OM4 problem, I can live with it & I usually carry 2 cameras
anyway, but probably I have been so spoilt by the excellence of the OM1 &
OM2N that I might be ungrateful.

Anyway, the OM4 is so good that a problem like this should really be
covered by the manufacturer, as an expression of supporting product
excellence and superior customer service.

Once again, I am probably being idealistic.

Also, thanks to Jim Terazawa for the email address. I will certainly email
that person at Olympus.

Cheers,

Tony.

P.S. Are there many used Zuiko 1000 mm Super Telephotos around ? I probably
couldn't afford even a used one, but I would like to know what the prices
might be as I am considering doing a lot more sports photography now that I
have some time on my hands.
