My first test of pushing exposure - ISO invariance. A7iii shot at ISO 400 and
-3EV, hand held, stack of 5 images using Helicon focus, evening light. Post
process that with +4EV exposure compensation and a little Topaz AI sharpen. Two
other shots at ISO 800 +1EV on previous evening.

Maybe not a good comparison as it could have been darker the 2nd night. Again,
for ISO invariance, if you have the dynamic range at higher ISO, seems that may
be a better option.

I would be curious to see the results if anyone else tries this technique.

You have good points and I am still looking for the right smaller camera. Here
in the desert I find the dynamic range useful.

Since I have Sonnie now, an APS-C Sonnie seems the best option for me, but the
GX9 is also enticing. A lot comes down to lenses. I had, before giving to grand
daughter, a6000 with 18-135. An APS-C lens on a7riii will crop to APS-C and be
almost as small an outfit. On the a7riii would be 18mp and still have the
higher PDR of that sensor.

So I do like my howitzer. I was out on my mountain bike with A7Riii and 24-105
today. It was a bit bulky, heavy in the camelback, but less so than the 3L of
water I carried/consumed. Some shots for the day...

I never new what the inside of a Saguaro looked like until I moved to AZ. I
used to think the cowboy in the desert could hack into a cactus for water. Now
I know that is a myth.
