Hmm...

Four thirds has always been 4:3, including your e-1/3.

I'm a firm believer to approach the subject without dogma. Which means you
let the picture and what you want with it decide the aspect ratio.
Unfortunately I see many fellow photographers stick with what their camera
produce.

So, I select 4:3 a lot more compared to 3:2, which makes sense for me as I
look at how close my eyes are ;-).

3:2 has always been a rather artificial ratio, derived as it was from an
available (movie) film format. And forget about the golden ration. It is
about the subject (like the Mona Lisa), not about the dimensions of the
painting or picture.

Two other arguments:
- professionals used medium format. Name a 3:2 MF format and I'll give you
five others.
- look at what the painters before photography choose. For every 3:2 of
Rembrandt you'll find 10 different ones, if he did a 3:2 at all.

So just do justice to your pictures with what you feel is right, but never
because it should be right ;-).
