I was aware that the Olys have no front threads.  The 135 Takumar has a slightly blueish cast, so it may compliment the Oly closeup lens.

If I find a need for a hood, I will see if I have a slip-on hood from my film days.

Addendum:

The Olys have the sort of yellowish reflections of older OM single coated lenses. They do not have a front thread, so hoods can't be screwed onto them. As all the lenses I use one on have bayonet mount hoods, I haven't had a problem.

The Nikons have much better coatings.

The current Oly MCON-P02 is like a black hole. It's designed for 46 mm (and 37 mm), but might work well adapted up to 49 mm. Didn't work well on a 58 mm primary lens, but that's a much bigger reach. Also, higher diopter, max focus of about 11".

Thanks Moose,

These options seem to be more readily available than Nikon 5T, etc.  I'll see if I can find one at a reasonable price.

Keep in mind the relationship among FL, magnification and working distance. Furthest focus for the f=40 cm models will be 40 cm from the front of the lens. The Nikon 3T (52 mm thread) and 5T, (62 mm) have a FL, and max. working distance, of 67 cm.
