Right now use a piece of tape marked with #mm of shift so I can move the cam 
over.  It doesn't cost much.   I suppose only matters if foreground is quite 
close to avoid parallax errors.
 
I have one of these, which works, but isn't fully rigid.

Now I see this, which is really two focusing rails mounted at right angles.

Which makes me think, what about a regular focusing rail, mounted sideways? The Oly rail is solid, precise, smooth, lash 
free, etc.
