Somehow I managed not to see your post, ChrisT.

I like the idea of electric motors for RC aircraft.  A colleague at work, an 
ex-USAF doctor (a Texan) who has worked as a British civil servant for 17 
years, has many, many RC aircraft in his office, powered gliders mostly, but 
one or two light aircraft models.  He has built his own but he likes the 
immediacy of the ready-to-go versions.

I like the Carbon Cub model, but the idea of gliding is rather attractive – as 
long as I’m not in the glider myself :-)
