What Tina said!

To expand a little, though - once LR has your images "catalogued", it knows
in which file/folder the master image resides (you determined that when
importing the images at the outset). You may later wish to move the files to
a different folder or drive. DO NOT DO THAT OUTSDIE LR! LR offers, in the
catalogue view, the folder and drive structure of your PC, and you can very
easily drag the image thumbnail(s) in the catalogue view to the folder and
drive to where you want to move the image(s). You want them in
Z:/abc/def/ghi/subfolder? Open up the Z drive in LR's drive/folder hierarchy
so that your chosen destination folder is open, and drag the thumbnails to
that folder. You do not need to know the original location of the images
(remember, that is what LR is for!), just where you want to put them, and by
doing it within LR, you don't have a problem with LR no longer knowing where
they are.

And that said, it might be best to do the re-arranging before you commission
the new PC.

You move them within LR. Otherwise, you can right click on the folders you
have changed and choose Synchronize Folder.
