I recently thought my 3 year old Lenovo laptop's battery had died. It
normally lives in its leather case and when in use runs with the charger
plugged in. But last week I pulled it out for a quick check on
something and didn't bother to plug it in. I was shocked that it
wouldn't boot off the battery alone. Actually, not only didn't it boot
but there were no lights or sounds or anything to say that the battery
was anything other than totally dead.
The first thing I did was remove the battery and plug in the charger.
Then it booted OK. Put the battery back in and left the charger plugged
in and rebooted again. This time when it came up I could see the
battery charge indicator showed less than 20% charged. It was a big
surprise to me to see that at near 20% the battery was incapable of
booting the machine.
I let it ride on the charger overnight and the next morning it was once
again able to boot from battery alone.

I signed up for LR mobile on my phone and was amazed when Adobe told me
that all of my phone photos are now on my main computer at home! Amazing.
